I was working fine with v4.0.27 on my phone. I deleted v27 and downloaded 4.0.29 and installed it. Since then I cannot connect to the ActiveSync server through Nextel's Internet. If I connect to my home wireless and configure AstraSync for it, it connects fine. It has been 2 days now and it still will not connect. I get the net.rim.device.cldc.io.ippp.socketbaseioexception could not connect to server.domain.name in the logs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled v4.0.29 and have rebooted the ActiveSync server but still does not connect. Also I have used the DNS tools under the Mobile Network Options and it resolves the address fine. Please help.

Side note on v4.0.27, I did have an issue a couple of weeks ago with it. I cannot remember what I was doing (if I upgraded or what) but this was right before I took a 5 day cruise and I was getting the exact same thing. I could not fix it before I left so I had the phone off for the 5 days while I was gone. When I got back I turned it on and it connected fine. It worked fine up until I tried to upgrade to v4.0.29.

Thank you

It has been 5 days and no response. I am sure there is something with the software that is not working correctly. I can use the tools on the phone through the Nextel BIS and resolve the name and ping the active-sync server. I can connect to my wireless network and home and sync through that. Can someone please give me a hint as to what is wrong?

Thank you.

roweton,

What mobile carrier are you using? I suggest you contact them and ask to have the service books resent to the device. A third party application like AstraSync will require a service book to connect to the network. If the service books are corrupt Third Party application may be unable to connect to the network while the native browser can.

After the service books are resent remove the device battery for approximately 10 seconds then reload. Open AstraSync and answer yes to any security prompts. Open AstraSync options > network settings, perform the network test. What was selected?

Has the device ever been connected to a BES server?

John

I am using Nextel. I called them and had them resend the service books, then took the battery out for 10 sec and after rebooting still got the same message. Under Network Settings I have Blackberry Internet Service and Mobile Network Only. This device has never connected to a BES server.

rroweton,

Contact Nextel and ask if they support TCP/IP and if it is free. Some carrier may charge for TCP/IP connections. Once you have setup TCP/IP open AstraSync options > network settings, toggle cellular connection to TCP/IP.

When you rebooted the device from the previous suggests did you receive three security prompts when you opened AstraSync?

Another test would be to download a third party application like OperaMini to see if it is able to access the network.

I do have OperaMini installed and it works fine. I also have other apps like Facebook and Weatherbug that works also. I did switch to TCP/IP and I think it may be working now.

Also I did get 2 security prompts when starting the app which I said YES to.

I will let you know with TCP/IP to see how it goes.
